About Us

Grover’s Curiosity Shop is a bookstore and cooperative run by authors, readers, and artists. Our mission is to provide the community with a low-cost event space for workshops, pop-ups for local artists, and readings.

As a cooperative, we share our costs so that we can all showcase our own work in the shop and run our own events. We also have the freedom to pursue causes and charities that are important to us.

Meet the Team

  • Martha Grover

Martha Grover is the founder and director of Grover’s Curiosity Shop. She’s a memoirist, poet, zinester, and folk artist. Her zine, Somnambulist, has been going strong since 2003. She writes about living with multiple chronic illnesses, goldfish, wildfires, relationships, and her large, colorful family. In 2016, her book, The End of my Career, was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards in creative nonfiction. She lives in Gresham with her parents, her dog Nino, and a goldfish named Terry Gross.

  • Joshua Amberson

Joshua James Amberson is a writer, teacher, vintage reseller, and founder of the Antiquated Future zine distro and record label. He's the author of the long-running Basic Paper Airplane zine series, a series of chapbooks on Two Plum Press, the young-adult novel How to Forget Almost Everything (Korza Books), and the forthcoming essay collection Staring Contest: Essays About Eyes (Perfect Day Publishing). When he's not editing or packing orders, he enjoys rearranging his cassette tape and record collections and hanging out with his aging cat and dog.

  • Rachel Mulder

Rachel Mulder lives in Portland, Oregon, with her two cats, Opal and Tomasina. She is a process-oriented artist and her work vacillates back and forth between the meticulous and obsessive to playful experimentation and experientiality. She facilitates art events and does part-time care work where encouraging others (and herself) to create/exist sincerely is a parallel passion of hers that braids itself into her visual work. You can find her on Patreon, Instagram and her website.

  • Novie Nim

Novie Nimble is a community organizer and teacher of arts and spirituality. She has degrees in Indigenous Studies, African Studies & Languages, and comparative Religious Studies. Novie is the leader of Selkie School (formerly Witch School), providing community and magical courses locally and virtually. Her time is spent photographing tapes and analog media, making zines, and reviewing film & TV. Novie is currently studying radical ecology, animals, and dream work. Check out her virtual courses on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/c/selkieschool), plus find her art & tapes @tapewitch on Instagram and Pinterest.

  • Megan Beidler

Megan MT Beidler (she/they) lives in Portland with her husband, polydactyl cat (27 toes!), greyhound dog). Drawing and painting are lifelong passions that have led to a commissioned comic book, co-creating a moon oracle deck, and her annual attempts at Inktober. Her art is illustrative and cozy and often depicts natural subjects or fantastical beings. When they aren't at Grover's, you can find Megan hiding in the woods, doing therapy for teens, reading comics, or perusing the tea aisle of your local grocery. You can find Megan online under the username @meigatroxx.
